The 2024 Presidents' Day mattress sales are starting to appear, which means that now's an excellent time to treat yourself to a new bed at a low price. Presidents' Day is the first major sales event of the year, with many of the top sleep brands breaking out their biggest savings, so now is a good time to shop.

There's a good reason why Presidents' Day brings low mattress prices with it: many of the best mattress brands introduce new models in the spring, and Presidents' Day gives them an opportunity to clear warehouse space by selling older stock at low prices. Mattress sales are, of course, an all-round thing and it's rare that you'll ever have to pay MSRP for a new bed, but many sleep brands go all in on Presidents' Day mattress sales, sometimes with prices lower than Black Friday.

At the time of writing it's not even February yet, but we've already spotted the first few early Presidents' Day mattress sales; scroll down the page to see the best mattress deals available now. We'll be adding all the latest and biggest discounts over the next couple of weeks as we get closer to Presidents' Day itself, so be sure to bookmark this page and keep checking back, particularly because at the moment, some brands like to drop big flash sales ahead of events, then pull back to a lower discount for the big day.

Head further down the page to find everything you need to know about buying a mattress in the 2024 Presidents' Day sales. Otherwise, read on to see the top Presidents' Day mattress sales you can shop right now.

The Purple Plus is an enhanced version of the Purple mattress with an extra foam layer and a responsive 2" GelFlex grid for comfort in any position. Right now there's $400 off all sizes, with a queen coming in at $1,495; that's the cheapest we see the Purple Plus on sale for.

Cocoon by Sealy Chill Mattress: $619 $399 at Sealy
Affordable cooling

Cocoon by Sealy Chill Mattress: was $619 now from $399 at Sealy
Affordable cooling
The Chill Memory Foam is a great choice for hot sleepers who need a cooling mattress but can't run to the high price tags that most cooling models command. Our Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review found that it delivers effective cooling for its low price, and because it's an all-foam bed it also provides great pressure relief. In the Cocoon by Sealy sale there's 35% off with a free sleep bundle included; this will get you a queen size for $699. It's Cocoon by Sealy's standard deal, and we doubt it'll get any better for Presidents' Day. You'll also get a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty.

When is Presidents' Day?

Presidents' Day is a US federal holiday that takes place on the third Monday of February to celebrate all US presidents. It was originally created to celebrate George Washington's birthday, but since 1971 it's been expanded to include all presidents. This year, Presidents' Day is on Monday, 19 February.

We generally see plenty of sales activity in the run-up to the Presidents' Day three-day weekend, as well as on the day itself, so this is an excellent time to find deals on all sorts of products, including mattresses and bedding. So expect to find discounts on mattresses, beds and most other sleep-related products including pillows, mattress toppers, bedding and much more.

When do the Presidents' Day mattress sales start?

Many sleep brands will get an early start on their Presidents' Day mattress sales, around mid-February, and by the time the Presidents' Day weekend arrives nearly all the sales should be up and running.

Experience tells us that some brands will hold back deeper discounts for flash sales on Presidents' Day itself, Monday 20 February. It's near-impossible to predict these, however, and often the big flash discounts are on individual models rather than across a brand's entire mattress range; it's usually worth keeping an eye on Casper and Tempur-Pedic for such deals, though.

As we get closer to Presidents' Day we'll be adding all the latest deals, complete with our opinion on whether it's worth buying now or holding on for a bit. We've been monitoring mattress sales for a long time, so we know whether any particular mattress deal is the best you're likely to see, or whether there's room for a bigger discount.

Why Presidents’ Day is a good time to buy a mattress

There are a few specific sales events throughout the year when you can buy a new mattress for less money than usual, including the Presidents' Day mattress sales. While Black Friday mattress deals (and of course Cyber Monday) generally deliver the lowest prices, Presidents' Day comes close, making it a fine time to treat yourself to a new mattress.

Because the mattress business is so competitive there'll be a lot of sales all vying for your attention, so it'll be easy to find a great deal. To help you choose, keep in mind your sleeping position (back, side, stomach or combination), your body type and the type of mattress firmness you enjoy the most, whether that’s soft, medium-firm or firm. If in doubt, medium-firm suits most people.

We’ll be listing all the best Presidents’ Day mattress sales right here, and will be updating this page regularly with the biggest discounts and deals to help you save the most.

Presidents' Day mattress sales: what can we expect?

Most mattress brands run the same promotion throughout the year, and some will run the exact same deal on Presidents' Day itself. Many, though, will either increase their discounts around Presidents' Day, or throw in a little extra such as a bedding bundle or free pillows when you buy.

Some brands such as Purple and Casper don't have sales happening every day of the year, and instead tend to focus their sales around big sales events. That makes Presidents' Day an excellent time to buy from these sleep brands; not only will you see rare discounts on their mattresses, you should also be able get deals on sleep accessories such as pillows, bed sheets, weighted blankets, comforters and mattress toppers.

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday usually offer the cheapest mattress prices of the year, the Presidents' Day sales are also known for serving up some excellent discounts. So if you're looking to pick up a bargain, it's a great time of year to shop.

Should you wait for the Presidents’ Day mattress sales?

As we've mentioned, most of the Presidents' Day mattress sales will start in advance of the day itself, although some brands might hold off until the Presidents' Day weekend or offer bigger flash discounts on Presidents' Day itself.

So while it's possible that you might get a lower price on your preferred mattress if you wait until Presidents' Day on 20 February, there's no guarantee, and the downside may be that you'll have to wait longer for your mattress to arrive, thanks to the sales rush.

Brands like Nectar, Helix and DreamCloud are unlikely to change their evergreen mattress deals for actual Presidents’ Day because they are already fantastic value for money. That said, DreamCloud dropped an increased 50% off deal a few days after Black Friday 2023, and we wouldn't be surprised if it pulled the same trick after Presidents' Day.

If you are in a hurry and need a new mattress urgently, there are plenty of good deals around right now to save you money. If you aren’t in a rush, we’d recommend holding on a little longer to see what discounts arrive in the week leading up to Presidents’ Day.
